2016 Lexus CT Info News Specs

The Lexus CT is quite an unusual car because it offers the same powertrain as the Toyota Prius in a much nicer package which also happens to be quite a bit more expensive. The car has been quite successful since it was launched back in 2011 and it quickly became one of the more appreciated luxury hatchbacks due to the way it looks and the fact that it is a hybrid car. While most people expected an all new model with the 2016 Lexus CT, the car has just been released a few days ago and it seems to be nothing more than just a mild update. Lexus will release an all new model of the car but it seems that this new car will likely come some time in the next couple of years.

2016 Lexus CT Engine

The engine in the new 2016 Lexus CT remained unchanged which is to be expected considering it is just a facelift. It is the same naturally aspirated Atkinson cycle 1.8 liter inline 4 which is coupled to a pair of electric motors in order to offer up to 134 horsepower and around 200 lb-ft of torque. However, despite the fact it is not the least powerful car out there, the performance is painfully slow, especially when there are cars such as the Prius or CR-Z which are faster and a lot cheaper than it.

The 0 to 60 MPH time is around 10.6 seconds which is quite bad by modern standards while the top speed is only 112 MPH. However, the car manages to sweeten the deal with an average fuel consumption of 42 MPG which is good but not great. The engine is mated to the front wheels via a CVT gearbox which has been voted as one of the worst among any cars being very slow to respond to any input and quite rough when it comes to the ratio changing. Unfortunately, the new car stuck with it and a replacement will likely not come in the next couple of years.

Exterior of 2016 CT

The exterior of the new 2016 CT remained pretty much unchanged over the 2015 car. The only real difference is the front grille which has been surrounded by a slightly bigger chrome piece which makes it stand out even more. The back end remained unchanged while the F-Sport model only got a new set of wheels which will only be available as an option. We expect a special edition model some time in the next few months which should give the car new color options, new wheels and hopefully a new body kit for the sport model.

Lexus CT 2016 Interior

Inside the cabin of the 2016 Lexus CT things remained identical to the 2015 model in terms of design. However, there are some new features which could prove useful, especially for the people who don’t have much time on their hands. The car will get the Lexus Enform Remote system which includes quite a few benefits. Firstly, it comes with an app for both Android and iOS that will give the driver notifications about the state of the car.
It will provide oil change intervals as well as potential problems which will be identified by the car’s software and reported to both the driver via the app, email or SMS and also to a Lexus technical crew. This will only be available as a subscription base service and it should be free for the first few months.

Release date and Price of 2016 Lexus CT

While it has been released to the general public, it won’t be available for sale for the next few weeks and when it will finally hit the market, it will cost in the base trim level around $32,000 which is right where the previous model was. A top end version will not cost more than $40,000 which is a lot of money for a car this size but it is a fair price considering what it has to offer.
