2015 Toyota Tundra Price and Review

2015 Toyota Tundra is a real deal, full-size pickup which competes with the best of them, but sadly, somewhat falls short, even though not by much. It only entered third generation as this year’s model and 2015 Tundra will be carried over.

There will most likely be four trim levels available: SR, SR5, Limited and Platinum, instead of five levels from last year with the exclusion of high-end 1794 Edition from the lineup which was essentially the same as Platinum, but with unique color schemes and accents. Entry level 2015 Toyota Tundra will be available with all four powertrain options, including 4.0L V6 engine with 270 hp and 278 lb-ft of torque which is exclusively available on it.

SR5 is available with three others: 4.6L V8 which has 310 hp and 327 lb-ft of torque, 5.7L V8 which yields 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque and the same 5.7L V8 with Flex Fuel technology. Highest trim levels only come with 5.7L eight-bangers, while all models are tied to 6-speed automatic or optional 5-speed automatic transmission.
From the outside, Tundra, with its full chrome-stripe and chrome-bound grille which takes the whole front end, looks threatening. Lenght depends on a cab configuration which can be Regular, Double and CrewMax and also on a bed length which is either standard or long. Instead of a intimidating front end, there’s nothing more special to it as Tundra looks like any other pickup truck from behind.

Fuel economy ratings are miserable, but it was to be expected considering the engine options. Best in the lineup is the only V6 engine (only available on base models) which goes 16 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway, or 17 mpg combined. The deeper you go in the lineup, the deeper the ratings sink, as next-in-line 4.6L V8 has them at 16 mpg combined. Needless to say, 5.7L engines are even more fuel-consuming at 15 mpg combined.

2015 Tundra Interior and Exterior

Inside, it is available with options and comfort that can suit all needs. From basic cloth/plastic trim, to top leather/wood/chrome trims, Tundra offers a great deal of choices. Dashboard looks simple and on a smal side with thin instrument panel positioned between two round airvents on a metallic accent background. 6.1-inch touch screen display is standard, while 7-inch HD one is optional.

Navigation is standard from SR5 model, while JBL audio system starts from Limited trim. Eight airbags ought to do the trick for you, but Tundra also comes with vehicle stability and traction control, anti-lock brakes, electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist as standard. Blind spot monitor and cross traffic alert are available on Limited and Platinum models.

New Toyota Tundra Price and Release Date

Most affordable Tundra model is 2WD SR model with Regular cab and base V6 engine and it shouldn’t cost more than $26,500 in 2015. The most expensive model, however is Platinum 4WD with CrewMax cab and 5.7L V8 engine and it should cost around $48,000. 2015 Toyota Tundra offers wide variety of choices with four powertrains and three cab configurations. It has good-looking exterior and fine, or even luxurious interior, but fuel efficiency doesn’t go in its favor.
